SACRAMENTS

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

Baptism is the foundation of Christian life, the gateway of life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua) and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as children of God, we become members of Christ, and incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of rebirth through water in the word."

You must provide a copy of the child's birth certificate along with a letter confirming both godparents are practicing Catholics from their parish. Baptisms are held in our church every Sunday after Mass at 11:30.

THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE

It is called the sacrament of confession, because the - confession of sins to a priest is an essential element of this sacrament. This sacrament is also a "confession", appreciation and praise of God's holiness and His mercy toward sinful man. It is called the sacrament of forgiveness, because sacramental absolution by the priest uttered the words God grants the penitent "pardon and peace."

It is called the sacrament of reconciliation, because the love of God reconciles our relationship with Him: "Be reconciled with God" (2 Cor 5: 20). Whoever is merciful love of God, is ready to answer the call of the Lord: "First go and be reconciled with your brother in August" (Mt 5, 24).
